Benjamin Potter picked up sailing while in middle school, learning at the Lake Washington Sailing Club’s Junior Sailing Program. Now, Ben is the Club’s head instructor for the Junior Program and is a qualified Level 1 Instructor under U.S. Sailing.
Ben is a Sacramento native, a 2013 graduate of C.K. McClatchy HS, and now is a Junior at the California Maritime Academy studying maritime policy. He plans to become an officer in the U.S Coast Guard after graduation, and continue sailing. He’s also a rower on the Men’s Crew team, and a member of the Sailing Club at Cal Maritime. Ben regularly races Lasers on Thursday nights at LWSC and crews on anything he can get his hands on.
The youngest of three kids, Ben grew up on the water thanks to his family’s interest of all things that float. Along with sailing and rowing, Ben is also an avid photographer and enjoys capturing natural landscapes.
